Microsoft AI Hands-on Workshop, organized by the Brotherhood for Professionals of Color and Professional Women of Colour, to enhance, develop, and advance AI skills.

On March 26, 2025, the Brotherhood for Professionals of Color (BPoC) and ProWoc - Professional Women of Colour Denmark came together to host an interactive AI workshop at Microsoft Denmark HQ. This sold-out event brought together over 30 professionals eager to gain hands-on experience in AI, explore its applications, and connect with industry experts.

What did the experts share?

The workshop aimed to empower professionals of color by providing a solid foundation in AI fundamentals, prompt engineering, and large language models (LLMs) while emphasizing critical thinking in AI-driven environments.

The speakers for the afternoon—Mette Louise Kaagaard, Henri Schulte, Olivia Heslinga, and Thomas Eatmon—delivered insightful sessions that not only demystified AI but also highlighted its impact on career growth and workplace innovation.

Olivia Heslinga (centre) - Founder, AI for Good, emphasised the urgent need for inclusive, ethical AI development and the dangers of unregulated, non-diverse AI systems. She shared key resources for BPoC members, including AI for Good Denmark’s Open Data Spaces highlighting the importance of AI literacy and advocacy. Her call to action urged professionals to educate themselves, challenge biases, and shape AI to serve diverse communities.

Mette Louise Kaagaard - General Manager/CEO, Microsoft Denmark & Iceland, welcomed the participants to Microsoft HQ. Mette introduced our community to one of Microsoft's initiatives: Founderz. It is an unconventional business school dedicated to equipping individuals and organisations with essential skills to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI). More info here: https://founderz.com/

Henri Schulte – AI Partner Solution Architect, Microsoft organised a practical hands-on instructional workshop where our members delved into:

  1. AI-fundamentals using Co-pilot

  2. Prompt engineering

  3. LLMs, and critical thinking.

By bridging the knowledge gap and creating accessible pathways into AI careers, this workshop aligned with BPoC’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and professional advancement.

A Thriving Community of Learning & Collaboration

The enthusiasm and engagement from participants reaffirmed the importance of community-driven learning spaces like this. As we continue to equip professionals of color with future-ready skills, we also recognize the value of collaboration—this event was a testament to what can be achieved when organizations work together to create meaningful impact.
